There may very well be a right and a wrong time to play with language, but I’m not sure I know which is which.
This weekend, Costa Rica elected its own right-wing president, following a depressing global trend we’ve all been watching play out on the world stage for years.
I don’t have anything meaningful to add to that discourse, and so instead I find myself flipping back through last year’s journal, looking for inspiration. I found some things…
There is meaning to be made from the absurd, from the stream-of-consciousness randomness our human brains can generate, but AI cannot (according to this extremely interesting essay — it’s long, but worth it!).
This linguistic ouroboros from 2024 or so is an example of the random-made-lyrical, wordplay for a cold day. At most, it is an exploration of the states of flow available to us when we step outside of ourselves and into sensation, ambient activity, or unfettered expression.
Really, though, it’s just something I wrote for fun. I hope you enjoy it. :)
